Having owned a 560 SEL, a 420 SEL, and a 560SL, Jim’s ultimate quest was for a late model, low-mileage 560 SEC.
The best years were 1989-1991, and all of Jim’s cars have been in those final years of a decade-long production of the most successful S-Class cars in Mercedes history.
The problem in finding good cars is that people love these cars and often drive them until they are worn out.
The one you see here is a 43,000-mile example that has been lovingly cared for by its owners. Once again, thanks to Dean Laumbach for presenting this car for sale in near-perfect condition.
As with the other models in that era, the lead designer was the legendary Bruno Sacco.
560 has the durable and magnificent 5.5-liter V-8 that is probably the finest engine Mercedes has ever built.
35 years after this car left the factory in Sindelingen Germany, it is one of what can only be a few dozen in such outstanding condition left in the world.
