In 2021, Jim purchased this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera from Bruce Canepa of Canepa Sports, Scotts Valley, California.
The late 1980s Carreras are especially prized by Porsche fans because they have both the final years of production of the powerful air cooled 3.2 liter engine and the improved G50 five speed manual transmission. Upon purchasing the car from its second owner in almost 40 years with only 36,000 miles since new, Bruce had his team at Canepa Sports do a comprehensive mechanical inspection and restoration. Today, this 911 still has its original factory paint, factory interior and essentially “as new” mechanicals. It would be a 100 point car in any Porsche judging event.
The 911 was originally designed by Ferdinand Butzi Porsche in the early 1960s as a replacement for the original Porsche 356 and the basic design has set a remarkable record for a single model sports car: as of 2022, 57 years of continuous production.
