1965 Buick Riviera

The first generation Buick Riviera was introduced in 1963 and built through the 1965 model year.  This car is a 1965, which most Buick enthusiasts agree was the styling apogee of the series because it was the only year in which the car incorporated the headlights concealed in vertical clamshell doors as originally designed by the legendary Bill Mitchell (Vice President, Styling Section for GM from 1958 to 1977).

This car has received a comprehensive frame-off restoration by Eric Wolf of Vancouver, Canada and was returned to its original Burgundy Mist, black interior color scheme. It is fully loaded with all available power options.  The car has a matching numbers 425 cubic inch V-8 engine producing 340 horsepower and 445 pounds of torque and is mated to the Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission.

The first-generation Rivieras have earned milestone status from the Milestone Car Society.  Sergio Pininfarina declared the car “one of the most beautiful American cars ever built; it has marked a very impressive return to simplicity of American car design.”

34,586 Rivieras were built in 1965 and this car is one of perhaps two dozen 100-point cars in existence. In 2014, Jerry Seinfeld asked Jim to loan him this vehicle for his web based series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: Season Four" filmed in Las Vegas. Jerry Seinfeld can be seen driving and talking about the car in the video at comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/george-wallace-two-polish-airline-pilots. which first aired on June 26,2014 to an overwhelmingly positive reception from Jerry and George's fans and car buffs alike.
